Rita Anderson

Rita Anderson, NP, RN is a nurse practitioner in family medicine and specialized in clinical sexual health. She earned her Masters Degree and Second Bachelor's degree (MS, BS) at Columbia University where she was named a Dr. Scholl Foundation Nursing Scholar in 2012, and elected co-president of the Columbia University Medical Center Queer & Ally Partnership (QAP).  She also graduated in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, 2014. She received her first undergraduate degree (BA) at the University of California, Berkeley in political science, economics, and global poverty.


She is passionate about increasing access to medicine and education to help decrease health disparities around the world, with a special focus on the rights of women, LGBTQ, and marginalized communities.


Over the past 6 years, she has worked in New York City in clinical sexual medicine at Planned Parenthood and the NYC Department of Health. She has worked with thousands of people to embrace their sexuality and feel empowered in their bodies. She is a member of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (USA) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.


Rita is also passionate about nutrition, holistic and mental health, and massage, and is a member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association. She is training in California Massage (developed at the Esalen Institute in California) designed as a system to help energy move through the body. For the past several years Rita has worked on the clinical research trials in MDMA for post-traumatic stress disorder for war veterans and sexual assault survivors.


Rita is interested in connecting ancient spiritual wisdom and plant medicines with modern life and scientific understanding. She is a pleasure and body-positive activist who has been practicing meditation for the past 14 years and is a certified hatha yoga teacher and reiki practitioner. She believes everyone is the ultimate authority on their bodies and works with clients to meet their own goals.
